We, students and scholars of the research group KIM on artificial intelligence and media philosophy at the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe (Germany), express our solidarity with the Ukrainian people under the attack by Russian military forces.
We demand of our government to work for the de-escalation of the conflict and unconditional peace negotiations and express our doubt about any actions from German and European side leading to further escalation.
We support all appeals for peace and warmly welcome the statements of our colleagues from Russian universities against the war.
As a research group in media philosophy, we in particular address the media sector to inform German and European citizens in a reasonable way providing enough and multifaceted information about the geopolitical backgrounds of the conflict.
We stand in solidarity with our colleagues from Ukraine and their students, including foreign students trapped in the country, and ask to mobilise in their support.
Given the unused financial surplus and the availability of positions and space at our university, we appeal to our Rectorate and the Ministry of Education of Baden-Württemberg to immediately use these resources for helping students, teachers and scholars fleeing Ukraine and also other places of violent conflict.
